Feature release: Comments, replies and reviewers
Notes on a script used to arrive in an email, a PDF full of scribbles or a separate doc that said "page 34, the line about the keys". Now they live on the line itself.
Comments on any passage
Select some text and press ⌘⌥M (Ctrl+Alt+M on Windows), or right-click and choose Comment. The passage is highlighted in your writer color, and the thread opens in the new Comments tab of the right sidebar, which counts the threads still open. Click a highlight on the page to open its thread.
Comments follow the text as the script changes. Rewrite the scene around a note and it stays on its line. If the passage it was left on is deleted, the thread stays in the list, marked as detached, so nothing anyone said is lost.
Replies, mentions and resolving
Reply under any comment to keep a conversation in one place. Type @ to mention someone on the script and they get an email with the comment and a link straight to it. When the note is dealt with, resolve the thread. It moves to its own Resolved tab, so it is out of the way but still there if you need to look back.
Reviewers who can't change a word
Everyone you invite now has a role. Editors write in the script with you. Commenters can read and leave notes but not edit, which is the right seat for a producer, a teacher or a reader giving notes. Viewers can read and nothing else. Change anyone's role from the Share dialog at any time.
Every writer also gets their own color for their cursor and highlights. Turn on Color text by writer in the Share dialog to see who wrote what. It only changes your screen.
Comments stay with the script
Comments never appear in PDF or Fountain exports, share links, saved versions or writing record certificates, and they are deleted with the script. Everything else about working together is in How Collaboration Works.
